Finding "Champion" brand circuit breakers?

I posted last week about my attempt to change some light switches in the house that didn't go so well. (smoke coming out of one of the replaced switches)

I called an electrician over and he has told me that I need to find a new circuit breaker because when the smoke ordeal happened, he said it must've ruined one of the circuit breakers. Now, that circuit will not turn off even when every breaker switch is turned off in the panel box.

ok, so he told me to write down the info and brand of the 20A circuit breaker and take it to Lowes or Home Depot. I did and they don't sell Champion brand circuit breakers. Is Champion compatible with another brand?

Thanks,
Jeff

I have googled for an hour now, and I cannot find anything on champion circuit breakers.

I suggest you call the local supply houses on monday to find out who sells them. or call your electrician back and ask him.

Thanks JWhite for your help. I'll let him know that I can't find these.

I'm not a pro - but isnt there usually a chart on the panel that lists the types of breakers (brands too ?) that are rated for the panel ?

I once had a supply house refuse to sell me a breaker w/o providing this info.

Mfg s only list thier own breakers on that chart.

Sometimes the new breaker will come with a chart as to which panels they are classified for use in, other than the mfg own panel.

Try the following url: http://www.pacificcoastbreaker.com/

These guys have helped me in the past to locate some strange stuff and will certainly know if there are other manufacturers that make substitution products.

Good luck!
