Feeding Romex down wall

Trying to fish this down the wall from a switchbox to a hole in the wall. It's only about 3 feet but the insulation in the wall is making it very difficult. Any help on how I can get through this? I really can't deviate from the line I'm taking. Thanks

An electricians fish tape should solve the problem unless it's foam insulation

Are you getting tangled on the insulation or do you think you are hitting some other internal obstruction?

A fiberglass fish rod would work better if it is a straight shot. Or cut the end of the tape and stab it through the insulation.

some times it takes seconds, other times amazingly, the one that looks the simplest takes forever....... I think it's based on how jupiter is aligned with mars..not sure........

deep breath......walk away......come back to it... persistence

If you are fishing down with the switch box in place, remove it, fish the cable and install a new box.

Snaking......sometimes (alot) you need to work two.........with a hook in it trying to catch one another (careful not to get caught with hook or hook cutting into another wire)...

sometimes a short piece.........sometimes a longer piece that will reach where the other one is in case you need to pull that one through.......

sometimes you catch the two together and have to connect your wire to the back end of one of one of the fishtapes (I call it snake) to pull it ...

Tangled in the insulation. It seems to blocking it from pushing through. Thx

no box is removed. You would think it would fish down fairly easy.

are you using the big bulbes head that comes with the snake?

if so, you may need to cut it off........ and tightly bend the snake to make a hook.................

(don't go through the insulation............slide it down the wall or studd)

Are you sure you are not stuck behind a plastic vapor barrier... or fire blocking.

And a "fish stick" should definetly pierce fiberglass insullation...even if someone just crammed/packed that insulation in.

Keep trying different areas of the insulation and against the frameing.

And take some black tape to make a smooth sharp end on your fish tape if the end is ragged at all.
