Feed the new house from the garage? Details needed.

Yeah, the garage got built first. And it's got a small room on the side of the car bays, for a little workshop. Plus, there's a "bonus room" up over the car bays.

Power was brought into the garage with 200A service, not because it's needed there, but for the future house. The garage has a few circuits, one lights, the other two circuits receps only.

The house is planned now, and it will need 200A service. Distance, panel to panel, is about 75 feet. Questions here.

1. Will the panel in the house be considered a sub-panel of what is already in the garage?

2. Do we just jump out of the feed-through lugs in the 200A garage panel with the feed to the house?

3. We plan circuitry in the house requiring 28 spaces total, and wish to use a Square D Homeline load center with a main breaker and 40 spaces. Does this sound OK?

Yes.

2. Do we just jump out of the feed-through lugs in the 200A garage panel with the feed to the house?

Yes. Be sure to run 4 conductors to the house from the garage, which includes a neutral, and a grounding wire. You will also need to have proper grounding electrodes at the house as well.

3. We plan circuitry in the house requiring 28 spaces total, and wish to use a Square D Homeline load center with a main breaker and 40 spaces. Does this sound OK?

Yes.
