Federal pionner vs federal pacific

Just curious are the same known issues with Federal Pacific also applicable to Federal Pioneer? (both stab-lok, but Pioneer is Canadian I think)

I have a Federal Pionner Stab Lok but none of the electricians or inspector that seen it said anything about it, but the more I read on the Federal Pacific stab loks the more I wonder if my panel may be affected by those issues or not.

You're right. Pioneer is of Canadian manufacture. But they were known there, too as "Federal"! They were high quality breakers. I did not OFFICIALLY work at that time. Attended school. But even here in the USA The Federal breakers were high quality, or else they wouldn't be so popular. FPE also produced Bolt-on breakers that were used in commercial and industrial settings. No serious problems were ever reported with them. Somewhere along the line the manufacturer took shortcuts in production and in the quality of the materials used. That is where the problems started. (Now more than ever) Don't Drink and Drive!!!

Federal Pioneer are manufactured and sold in Canada even now. There was some problems experienced with them a few years ago, and you might want to read about it.

Click here for one web site's take on them.
