Question Fan Kit

HI everyone this is my first post. I don't have alot of DIY experience so bear with me.
I recently rented an apt that has a hideous ceiling fan/light combo. I want to just take off the light and use it as a fan. Trouble is that the fan only turns on with the light kit installed (it's remote control operated) Would I be able to install a lightless kit? The fan is a Hampton Bay, I'm not sure what the model is.

You are renting an Apt
Your landlord needs to make all alterations, check with them

Thats not the issue. Does anyone know if there exists a remote sensor kit without a light?

Generally the remote unit is inside the canopy, not in the light kit. Take the canopy off and see what's in there.

I have installed fans with the remote in the light kit. It can not be removed because the fan will not work.
Like Dave said. The place belongs to the landlord, and only he can do the work!
