extra wire before rec box

sparky23 Newbie   Join Date: Dec 2010 Posts: 1	extra wire before rec box Hey, I was called into a job to "fix" some wiring. The guy before looped the wire to the rec. prob about 10 inches before it went into the box. Im a little confused on this one, he said its required. Am I missing something or is he confused with the extra that has to be left outside the box after the wire is in.

gregzoll Average Joe/ex-Navy IC3     Join Date: Dec 2006 Location: Midwest - Central Illinois Posts: 9,296	extra wire before rec box If there is extra romex behind the wall going into the box, it allows for extra when you need it, in case the wire gets cut too short later on down the road. Not required, but handy with ceiling lights.
