Exterior Light
 

When intstalling a new outside light, what needs to be present on the exterior. Once I bring the wire down from the exterior wall and out to the outside what sort of box do I use? Does there need to a flush mounted box with the exterior sheathing or can I go right through and mount a box on top of the siding. I am looking to install a lamp style exterior light (not motion sensor) and I am confused by the from the transition from exterior wall to actual light and what I need to do for boxes etc. (round, square) and so forth. Thanks again
