Exterior Carriage Lights - Box Question

I am building a new garage and would like to put carriage lights on either side of the garage door. At present, the framing is covered with sheathing, but will eventually be finished in stucco.

Can I use a regular octagon box attached to the studs and protruding through the sheathing and stucco? I'm considering a duplex outlet on the outside of the building as well, but I would rather not have to use those weatherproof boxes with EMT and whatnot...Thanks.

I'm not a pro electrican, but yes you can use a regular octagon box for the light fixtures.
The receptacle will have to be GFCI-protected.
Good Luck!

What weather proof boxes with emt?

For the recptecle do the same as you mentioned for the lights, except with a single gang box. Only the cover will need to be weatherproof, and with a GFI installed.
