EMT pipe cutting


Can someone tell me how to cut EMT pipe? I need a very clean, straight, cut. Thanks.

EMT pipe cutting


Hacksaw. Pipe cutter. Sawsall. Metal chop saw. Metal cutting blade in angle grinder.

Ream the hole when done.

is this for something other than an electrical installation?

for electrical use, I just use a fairly fine toothed hacksaw. You still have to deburr the cut.


If you need something more accurate, you could use a tubing cutter but that does make an inward curl that you would have to remove lest it might chafe or cut the insulation on the wire.

Thanks for the info.. I'm using it as part of a quilt frame and the ends must fit in end caps that came with the kit. Fabric will be rolled onto it, FYI.

EMT pipe cutting


Hack saw with a 32 tooth blade.

Since this is for a non-electrical application a pipe cutter will work good too.

just do NOT stick your finger in the end of the pipe and spin it around to see if it is sharp.

it is sharp.
