Electrician in NE Georgia
Anyone recommend a good electrician in the Moutn Airy, NE Georgia area?
Will need one in the next few weeks to help complete a new house build.
I hate to sound cynical, but a few weeks is not much lead time. In most areas we are very busy.
Also, not very many are keen on finishing someone else's work.
Too far away for me, not that I would be able to make the few week dead line.
This web site has some advertising and you may find one in your area.
Seems the lead time will be longer anyway. However there is no one else's work to finish, it is a new install.
Sorry, I took: "...to help complete a new house build.", to mean finish the job.
Petey, I'm curious - and I know you can only speak for yourself, not 'everyone'... but what is your objection to doing 'wrapup' work?
A.) sore about missing out on the labor profit of the work already done?
B.) concerned about liability of your name being attached to 'the whole project' when you didn't do 'all the work'?
C.) just hate having to do a bunch of cleanup work?
D.) people that hire you in to do 'finish off' tend to be too cheap (and/or argue) to pay you for your time to do everything that needs to be done even if it's rework of something that was done WRONG 1 hr before you got there?
E.) some jobs really are too small?
F.) secret cabal?
G.) law says you can't?
H.) something else I am not thinking of?
I'd hazard it's a combination of several of the above, and I understand if you don't feel like answering (and in ANY case, don't be offended by the question!)
Actually your list is pretty concise.
A) Absolutely not! I only do the work I can. And I can't do every job.
B) Absoultey YES!
C) Definitely yes. I HATE cleaning up after some hack or handyman screws something up. I DO charge a premium for thses jobs, IF I take them at all.
D) Somewhat. Many are thrilled to finally have someone qualified to fix things and happily pay. They realize this after the fact.
E) Not really. I am one who realizes you can make decent money doing small jobs.
F) Um, NO.
G) No. Not that I am aware of.
"B" is the most important to me. Many folks don't realize this.
If I am asked to come in after another electrician I ask myself WHY.
-Did he do a bad job and get fired?
-Was there a disagreement about money/extras/contracts?
-Was the customer impossible to deal with so he split?
-Did he overbook himself and simply bail on that particular job?
See where I am getting at?
I got a voice mail from someone in a notoriously flaky town. She says two other "electricians" have started this job. She can't get anyone to call her back. One she even owes money to. She needs me to come right away and get this project finished for her, yet she does not even know how much work is left and how far the others have gotten.
And oh yeah, she wants to know what it will cost. :censored: :censored: :censored:
I hit the delete key. And I am one who tries to call everyone back. Even if it is to say no.
I agree with Petey. B is the main reason. Whenever something goes wrong it was the last person that touched it!
Let me respond also. Call it a second opinion.
A. I do plenty of work large and small. I only worry about profit on the part I do.
B. That is the reason there. It will take me longer to check out the work done, that it would have taken to do it most times.
C. True true true. And I have to wonder why the other electricain is no longer involved.
D. Would not know, as I avoid this kind of work.
E. No job is too small.
F. Don't I wish. all of our prices would be much higher.
G. Not true. I can, I just have to assume the liability for the whole job.
H. Cant answer this one. I have no idea what you are thinking or not.
A.) no not at all
B.) Yes, concerned about liability
C.) I am not a janitor
D.)I am agreeable by the hour
E.) see "D"
G.) see "D"
Mainly I am agreeable by the hour.(new Saying)
