electrical wiring in bath.

I am new to wiring, but am remodeling my bath and need help with the wiring, . My over head light has the power wires coming in and the load wires going out, I will be replacing the light and running a new on-off switch to another wall, how would I wire this, I know I will have the existing wires in the box plus the new wire going to the new on-off, how would you hook these wires together....thanks, David.

This pretty simple to do. What I get from your post is the power from your panel(or another box) is in your octagon with your light. To hook up a light switch you simply would run a 14/2 down to your switch. Now this will get confusing, expecially if you are new to wiring. Hook the live wire in your octagon box to the white wire going down to your switch. Then the black wire from the 14/2 will connect to your light. You will get the neutral for the light from the same place it comes from. Hope this helps, any more questions fel free to ask.

Are you moving the switch or are you planning to use both switches?

Are there only 2 wires going to your switch(don't count any grounds) if so you can do like darren said and then remove the wires that are going to the original switch.

Thanks everyone, Darren hit it on the head..... and was a bit confusing with the white wire attached to black, but was simple enough..... thanks, David.
