electrical service for garage
 
guys im tryin to put electric in a steel bldg. problem is that i want a wholenew service but the riser is on the other end of the house 1st question :can i put a new meter riser and disconnect on that side of the house and then run thru a crawl space in pvc to the side where the bldg is . then run under ground to the bldg in 1and 1/2 pvc. 2nd question: do i have to put in any lightning protection? any anwsers to these would be great . :thumbup:

Where you put the riser and meter will need to be approved by the power company. If there is no disconnect in the meter base you will not be allowed to run the cable through the crawl space. The part of the cable before the main breaker/disconnect must be the shortest possible INSIDE the house. That usually means about 5-10 feet at most will be allowed.
