electrical service


i have just erected a 40ft x 30ft red iron workshop and i want to run service to it from house.distance from house to workshop is about 200ft going to have various recepticals and shop tool s.need some ideas what i might for serive thanks jim

Wow, with that much space I could install one of every tool made(almost). Without specifying what you will install, I would guess a 100A panel is in order. That would allow for a lot of heavy duty equipment, including welders. And you could run them on 240. If you go smaller and need more, it is harder to make changes.

Depending on the shop power requirements you may be looking at a service upgrade on the house.

The best way would be a demand load calculation for both the shop and house.
