Electrical Panel clearance paint color?

I am getting ready to mark the 3' designated area on the floor in front of all my breaker boxes at work. I was told I have to use yellow paint. Is this true? Can I use red?

Thanks,
Rickey

I am not aware of the floor marking requirement being in the code. You could use any colour you want I suppose.

If you want permission to go against your internal safety inspector, then we can't give it. Like was pointed out there's no code requirement. But if he wants yellow then say "fine", and take an hour to go to the hardware store to pick some up. It'll be a nice drive. If anyone says anything then say the red paint you had wasn't good enough and the safety inspector made you go get the other.

Good point. I need to get out of here for a little bit.
