electrical outlet problem ?

when my TV is on and I plug a floor fan in to the same outlet, or another outlet I hear a scratch noise on the tv speaker. It makes a scratch noise or pop noise each time I turn the fan on or off, or if I change the fan speed.

Is this an electrical outlet problem?

This is more than likely electrical noise that's induced via a little inductive kick from the fan motor. If it's annoying or if you have a high end tv (or other electronics) then you should plug the tv (or other electronics) into a power filter like the kind they use for home entertainment systems. Circuit City or Best Buy should carry something like this, although it may be on the pricy side. The other option is to find a fan that isn't as "noisy".
