Electrical cost to finish my basement

It costs absolutely nothing to hire someone to rewire your house. Now of course you have to pay them to do the work, but you didn't ask that, did you?

I have no idea how you think this relates.

My point was, flatly saying "Normally a rewire for a house is 10,000" is completely absurd without regard to house size, complexity, location, etc.

That is exactly like saying "Normally a 4-door car is $10,000."
My point was that there are people out there charging insane amouts of money for very simple jobs.

Well, if it were simple, they wouldn't be hiring someone, now would they? I think a lawyers job is simple, but look at what they charge.... Oh wait, you're paying for the skill, not the time.

Simple is in the eye of the tool holder.

Insane is in the mind of the one parting with the cash.
If you think someone is charging an insane amount, don't hire them. Pretty simple.

SO all you want done is for each light to have its own switch?
