Electrical cost to finish my basement

How much would it cost to hire a company to wire my basement? It is 824 square feet and includes a living room, office, bedroom, bathroom, and laundry room. The lights work in every room, they are just wired to all turn on when I turn flip the switch at the bottom of the stairs.

Call 3 electricians and get three bids, then decide...

I would allocate 5,000 It should be more then enough. Normally a rewire for a house is 10,000. Definately get some bids. Make sure a permit is pulled. It protects you.

THIS is your answer. Anything else is an uneducated guess.

You're joking, right?
The bold quote above is nearly the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

I wouldn't say that. The wife called a company over to see about rewiring the whole house (950 sq ft bungalow with basement that was not finished) because we had some copper wiring and some aluminum wiring, luckily neiter on the same circuit.

Anyway they quoted $10,000 to piggy back all the receptacles that were alluminum to the proper receptacle. That was insane I thought because they weren't even running new wires and that's what we wanted.

So I rewired the whole house myself.

So you wouldn't say that because by coincidence you got a quote for the same $10k for a different job (Alumicon)?
I have no idea how you think this relates.

My point was, flatly saying "Normally a rewire for a house is 10,000" is completely absurd without regard to house size, complexity, location, etc.

That is exactly like saying "Normally a 4-door car is $10,000."
