Electrical cord on a air conditioning unit

My dog chewed through my air conditioning units wire(while it was unplugged)... I have a replacement wire but the replacement wire has a white, black and a green wire... But on my ac unit the wires have three wires two with no colors and one green ( one side of the wire have black writing) ... Do I connect the black wire from the replacement wire to the side that have the black letters on the ac units cord and the white wire from the replacement cord to the other side???? Please help me the heat is a killer....

Electrical cord on a air conditioning unit

Is the replacement cord is the same size as the oringal cord and the type as well ??

Normally I will just follow that A/C manufacter to see if have excat replacement due the conductor size plus the rating of the cord that will affect it.

The aftermarket cord like you replace some may not work very well due the diffrent rating.

The oringal cord will have a marking or ribbed side that is netural while unmarked side is hot conductor unless you have 240 volt unit that can get little tricky.

Merci.
Marc

No, exactly the opposite. The white conductor connects to the same place as the original cord's half with the writing on it.
