Electric woes with PC speakers

Hi all,

Probably this is not the most correct forum to post this computer/audio related question, but as it is 'electric' (sorry for my ignorance) here it goes:

- if I turn on my speakers while the computer is playing any audio (a song for example) there are some interference and crackling noises (these tend to disappear and all is normal in a couple of seconds)

So, I had to make sure my computer is not outputting any audio when I turn on the computer speakers.

The question is, these computer speaker related issues can cause damage to the computer or nearby equipment (lcd monitor, drives etc) or are just a normal, harmless nuisance found in most cheap speakers?

thanks in advance,
mothra.
