Electric Meter Socket Base Hub and Compression Fitting
So I am on the home stretch of my new electric service project. I have 1 length of pipe left the pull and attach wires.
At the top of my meter base, I bought the proper hub and will use that.
Is there anything wrong, per code (my town follows 2008 NEC with no amendments), with having a 2" rigid compression fitting screwed into the hub to connect the riser? The 2" rigid will just be a cut end.
Is this rigid conduit(GRC?) or emt. Usually GRC is threaded directly into the hub.
Yes, it is galvanized rigid. I realize that is how it is usually done, but is there anything wrong, per code, with a compression fitting?
No violation if it's a proper fitting.
That connector needs to be specifically rain tight. Simple compression fittings no longer meet code.
I see in your signature that you answers are based on 2011 NEC.
I believe it was somewhere around '08.
It's been a requirement for many code cycles at least back to 1999 NEC.
