Electric Leaf Blower
My electric leaf blower burned out yesterday. It started smoking. I decided to throw it away for fear of it catching fire in my hands. It was about 4 years old.
Should it last longer? I use a 100-foot cord. Is a heavy guage cord necessary?
What gauge cord are you using and what is the nameplate current draw for your blower?
The (paper) Grainger catalog has a list of their cords, sizes, current ratings and lengths. With them, there seems to be two rules: 13A max for #16 AWG and 15A max for larger gauges, and 3% max voltage drop in any case.
