electric fan speed control

i have an elecrtic fan from the early thirties with an internal three speed switch. even on low it's too fast to slowly circulate warm ceiling air in the winter time. years ago i remember popular mecanics giving a diagram for making an electric drill speed control. would probably work for my fan . any ideas on how to build one??

electric fan speed control

This is no job for the DIY'er. Take the fan to a motor rewind shop and ask them if it can be done, and if they can help you to do it. 3 speed motors are just that. 3 speed.
