Older house has a 30A 3 wire receptacal. New dryer has a 30A 4 wire receptacle.
Should we replace the house receptacal or revise the wired connection on the dryer ?
As long as the cable is 10/3 NM or 8/2 SE you can still use it. If it is 10/2 NM it will have to be replaced. A three wire cord is still compliant as long as the wiring method meets the above. If 10/3 NM cable was used just change out the receptacle to a four wire and make sure the EGC and neutral conductors are terminated in the panel.
As Electures stated, replace the outlet if it has the proper conductors.
Only replace the cord as a last resort, if you don't have a 4-wire circuit available.
