I have installed 8 new Honeywell TL8230 electric baseboard thermostats in my home and I'm finding that for example unless the one in my kitchen area has the heat turned on, the one in my breakfast area which is directly across does not go on that is to say that the thermostat light not on and the digital numbers are not on. Same thing in my upstairs bedrooms and bathroom. Each room has it's own dedicated baseboard heaters. Any ideas what's going on here?
I checked the circuit breaker panel and the kitchen and breakfast area for heat are on the same circuit.
The powder room, guest bathroom and guest bedroom are all on another circuit and the master bedroom and a second guest room are on another circuit.
All the thermostats work when all the heaters are turned on.
In you post you said the three cables were in a wall box. How were these heaters controlled before you added the thermostats? Are you placing the thermostats in the wall box or are you placing them on the baseboard?
So Jim let me understand what your saying is the two cables that I have connected on the load side one of them is the heater and the other is the other thermostat? I was under the impression that they both should be on the load side.
We really appreciate your help. Just paid an electrician $900 to rewire my latest remodel of master bedroom which is beyond what I'll attempt electronically and we are going thru our budget pretty quickly. This house is getting to be 25 years old and starting to need new everything. Have wonderful weekend.
P.S. We woke up this morning to a power outage which hit our area due to high winds. Electricity just went back on and the thermostats held the programming. Glad for that. Thanks again. Ed
