my electric shower worked fine but now it is tripping the mcb switch when it is on the highest setting.it's a 9.5kw shower and the switch is 50amp on the mcb.could it be that the cable is not the right one.as i said,it worked with no probs for about 8 months.

This site is populated mostly by American and Canadian DIYers and electricians, so you won't find much help here. However, it is probably one of three things. Either the heater is drawing more amps now than it used to, or there is some current leaking to earth when the high setting is on (thus tripping the RCD), or the RCD/MCB has gone weak. It is unlikely to be the wiring itself.

Also, bathrooms are classified as "special locations", so your best and safest bet would be to get a qualified electrician in there to look at it.

Let me add few more comment due I am famuair with the European system.

You need to reset the RCD back to the oringal setting and you CAN not turn it up it have puropose for safety issue.

Now I really suggest that the shower heater device the heating element is going bad and the heating element is going bad that the reason why the RCD is tripping and I advise you to get the electrician to come out and check out the system to make sure the RCD is working properly and yes I know some of the European system is very tricky to trobleshooting with it.

It best have electrician check it everything over to make sure it is safe.

Merci,Marc
