So I have a brand new gfci outlet with the power hooked on the line side the only thing that is on the load side is a lamp post with a dusk till dawn sensor when the light comes on the gfci trips i checked for moisture and dryed it out with air any ideas on what making it trip? I took the lamp off the load side and put it on the line side for the time being so the light will work as my wife works night shift so it provides some security!
Go to box with the GFCI. Check the wire insulation on the wires leaving the load side of the GFCI.
You may have scraped off some of the insulation while folding the wires back into the box and now they are coming into contact with the box(if box is metal) or a ground.
It wouldn't trip the breaker if the neutral was damaged and in contact with the ground, but it will trip the GFI.
