Earthing water and central heating pipes

Have just installed a new bathroom suite, can anyone tell me please how i can check if the water and central heating pipes are earthed correctly. Have seen the earth wire leading from the mains water supply above the stop cock, but how can i find out if it is eartherd correctly? Jack :confused:

Hi Jack

I am not sure but I think they generally use the pipes to earth the electrical system so their for as long as the pipes are metal and properly connected the system should all be grounded properly. As for your central heating system I believe this done with the supply line to the boiler. As I said this is what I think, Hopefully you will get more responses of members that are more knowable of this.

I have looked at the boiler and there is an earth wire in place, so I am assuming that the system is eartherd as all the pipes are metal and are bonded.
Also the water supply to both hot and Cold taps (Forcets) are bonded to each other at the sink/bath end.
I really want to somehow electricaly prove that they are earthed?
I have a thing called a Martindale which will test to see if an English plug socket is wired correctly ie the live wire is in the right hole as with the neutral and earth wires, with out taking the thing off the wall and looking, if they are not then the martindale will show, via 3 led lights, what the problem is.
Im thinking of useing this somehow to test for an earth on the central heating system and the water supply.
Anyone have any more ideas suggestions?

Thank you for that, yes very helpfull, am now sorted and have proved the water system and central heating are earthed.

I recently did this in my own home and followed the advice from here- Earthing & Bonding

I then got it tested by a sparks, who said that I had done a good job
