Dusk to Dawn Light

Why won't the dusk to dawn light go on as soon as it gets dark? It takes about 2 hours after dark to go on. I replaced the bulb and photocell.

It sounds as if your definition of darkness and that of your photocell is different. I understand that some photocells have embedded logic, also, that requires a finite period of darkness prior to activation.

One other thought: is it possible that you have an artificial source of light that is fooling your sensor?

There are few possibltys why the photocell is not really activing correct.,

• Wrong ordration { postion } of the photocell the photocell window should typically face north that work the best.

You can fine tune them if you have twist lock or adjustable swivel photocells by turning either way if turn toward to west it will come on much later but turn it toward to east it will come on earlier but will turn off early.

• Reflection from other light soure even from it own luminiare if that the case you may have to move them to diffrent location or mount it remote.

• Poor photocell unit or wired wrong that is other pretty common item.

Last thing the photocell manufacters may have diffrent model for diffrent setting to kick on and off so it will varies a bit.

In addition to the above suggestions for adjusting the orientation of the photocell, you can also partially block the window on the cell with paint to reduce the sensitivity.

there are some PC's that have a blocking device built in for that purpose.



and on wallpack lights, they often use a little cap with a small hole in it or a short piece of black rubber hose.
