dumbwaiter not working

Hi, im new here and hope someone can help. my dumbwaiter is not working in a vacation home which isnt frequently used.we believe it happened after a power outage. the buttons are not illuminated, but my handyman says there is power coming in. he says the fuses are good and the circuit breaker is also good. he thinks it might be either a blown a transformer, a fuse he cant find or some sort of surge protector needing to be rest, but isnt familiar with dumbwaiters and doesnt know where to start. the builder that installed it is out of business and the company ,inclinator co , wants to charge $340 just to come to the house. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

If there is a motor starter check the reset button.

dumbwaiter not working

I've found limit switches to be a problem sometimes.

There are a lot of things that must be right in order for a dumbwaiter to work.

There is frequently a reset button somewhere; its purpose is to keep the car stopped in the event of a power outage. It's usually not a good idea to have the car start up on its own once power is restored.

Of course he doesn't know where to start, he's a handyman, not an electrician or technician.

You say you own a seldom used vacation home with a dumbwaiter.

Call an electrician. He'll be less than $340, at least initially.

thanks. the house is in a small beach town where the electricians i have called, all 3 of them, will not even make a service call b/c they are unfamiliar with dumbwaiters. a handyman was all i can get to come out. thanks for your advice tho
