dual switch
I have a single switch that controls the bathroom light. I would like to change the single to a dual switch and add another light. I will have 9 wires 3 black 3 white 3 green. How would I wire this situation?

dual switchQuote:
all the neutrals should get wire nutted together. the grounds should be pigtailed with 2 leads coming out, 1 going to each switch the incoming hot should be pigtailed with 2 leads coming out, 1 to each switch the 2 remaining hots should go 1 to each switch. |

dual switch
If you are dealing with a single gang box then you would be talking about this type switch......one side of the switch is a common side both screws are connected with a tab. The side shown is where the two blacks going to the switches will be connected. The incoming hot will go to the common side getting power to both switches. All neutrals (whites) joined together. Ground the switch with a jumper to the box (if metal) and to the incoming grounds. This is the surest grounding, code does allow for other options but for diy this is the best method IMO.
