Drywall over 2 gang electrical box that has dead circuit?

Hi,

I just converted over from a swamp cooler to refrigerated air and the installers left a white cover on my wall where the switches for the swamp cooler were. This circuit is fed from the heater closet and that is all that is on that breaker. If I disconnect the old swamp cooler circuit where it loops in the heater closet and cut the wires so they can't be hooked up again can I legally drywall over the dead 2 gang box?

Yes, you can. No chance of reconnection, correct?

As long you disconnect and remove from the breaker box that circuit is no longer used at all then yeah you can cover it up complety.

are you useing the heater circuit in cold weather if so you will need that circuit however you will have to find where it goes from the heater unit area to former swamp cooler device once you find it and complety remove it or cut the wires super short and push it out of the box if possible that is the safest way to be legit.

{ you may need a ohmmeter to verify it to make sure you disconnect the correct one }

Merci.

It goes from the breaker to the heater closet then to the swamp cooler. So yes, I was planning to cut the wires short at both ends and then push them what was left into the wall.

Thanks for the replies.
