Drilling accident

I was in the process of drilling through one of my garage walls and nicked one of my electrical lines coming from my panel. . When I hit it, it sparked and blew the wires in half. This is a 120 circuit, Can I splice the wiring or do I need to re-feed the circuit?

all splices must be in a junction box. the problem is the cable is now too short so you have to figure out how to repull one side of the cable or install 2 boxes and a new piece of cable between them.

New way of sharpening drill bits?

If you have easy access either to the panel or next junction you can place a junction box at the shorted area (leaving enough wire available to splice) then rewire to the panel or junction box whichever is closer/easier. The box must be maintained accessible. Use a blank cover as necessary.
