Door bell wiring

Hello, I have an old door bell in my house and I just recently installed a new back door and wanted to install a button there. I went and checked out the bell it self and it has a back, front and trans screw but only 2 wires not 3. there is a wire coming in that goes to the front and trans and then there is a jumper from front to back. how can I wire in the back door button?

Thanks,
Chad

Door bell wiring

PaliBob, do I have to purchase a 3 wire? I see how it is wired but it confuses me on what wire I need and where I need it. I see there is a 3 wire from the bell but do I run it near/to the transformer and do all the splitting there? and what would it look like if that's what I did?

Thanks,
Chad

If you run the button wires to the bell unit (and do the splitting there) then you only need 2-wire cables throughout. If you run the button wires to the transformer then you will need a 3-wire cable going to the bell.
