Do 120v on demand water heaters need a new breaker?

I know large units require a 240v/30a breaker installed, do the small 120v on demand water heaters also require a new breaker or is it a typical small appliance wiring job?

What do the instructions say?

Is it hard wired or cord connected?

What is the amperage?

Determine which unit you want to purchase and do the research by contacting the company's website. And as far as changing any breaker you need to be prepared to change the wire as well. You MUST match the circuits wiring amperage to the breaker amperage. Most spot water heaters require their own circuit.
