Disposal switch

I know that codes vary but I wonder if there is recommended distance from the sink for the disposal on/off switch. I have a designated 20amp circuit for this. Can I put a GFI outlet on this circuit also?

If that on/off switch is also the disconnect for the disposal than it must be within sight of the appliance... if not, then the switch can be anywhere... you can install it over the sink if you want...

You can install a GFI on that circuit, but that GFI cannot serve the countertop....

Disposal switch

Have you seen these air activated switches?

You can mount the button right next to the faucet or somewhere close by and then run the air line down to the switch which gets plugged into the outlet where you plug in the disposal.

Just a thought

How cool! Get to put in my GFI for an air activated switch. Now maybe my wife will be impressed. Thanks Git.

I wouldn't waste my money on a GFCI... the only receptacles in a kitchen that require to be GFCI protected are the ones that actually serve the counter top...
