Dimmable indirect lighting

I plan to build a trough near the ceiling to install indirect lighting. Normally I would use fluorescent lights for this purpose, but I want the lights to be dimmable. Any ideas on the type of lights I can use for this purpose?

Dimmable indirect lighting

It sounds like the best lighting for you would be rope lighting. You will want a switched outlet (hidden preferably) at one end of the trough to plug in the rope light. Measure the linear feet of the run and buy accordingly. Good luck!
