dimmable bulbs that now dont dim


I only have 1 light and light switch in my lounge and the bulb blew yesterday so i went back to the same shop and got 2 replacements exactly the same as the old type.But after putting them in they work fine but dont dim any ideas why this could be as the old one was working fine before.

Are these incandescent bulbs, or compact fluorescent?
