Dilemma - Trip switches

Anyone help....

My father-in -law has just described a scenario in his house whereby he thinks all trip switches have gone to the off position. I am no expert but surely all trip switches cannot go off at the same time expect for a lightinging strike maybe.

What I need to know is there any circumstances when all trip switches could possibly go out at once ?

Your help is appreciated.

Dilemma - Trip switches

I've seen electricity do some strange things but I couldn't imagine a circumstance where all the panel breakers tripped at once. That would go in the record books for sure.

So, is the electricity back on? And if so how did it get that way? If what he described is indeed true then he would have to set each breaker to the off position then back on.

Is it possible that his main breaker tripped?
