DC to AC converter Load

Can a 1000 watt 2000 peak DC to AC inverter run 2 household sump pumps simultaneously? Hurricane is coming and I'm trying to get ready for power outage potential

Unlikely I would say !
What is the power usage of the pump motors ?
It should say on the motors name plate ?

the main problem will be the starting current.
Whilst 1000w with 2000w peak might just run one pump,
depending the amp draw, and the load on the pump.
It is unlikely that it would run two.
If the amp draw is not too large, and the invertor
will run one pump ???
Then a second invertor could run the second pump,
again depending on the amp draw.

Have a look at the motors and find out there amp draw ?

You would be better off using a small gen set,
As gennys can tolerate short term overloads ( start up )
better then an electronic invertor will.
The overload circuit would shut down the invertor quick smart.

What will be the DC power source? If batteries, you will need a LOT of batteries to be of much good methinks due to the large load. Sounds like the job for a generator.

No I don't think so at all due most sump pump are 1/3 HP or larger you will have to find the nameplate or info if you can otherwise I know most common sump pump genrally use half horsepower motour which they will draw about 6 to 8 amp depending on pump itself.

The starting wattage will useally kill the inverter pretty fast and also with battery how big the battery you will have and they will draw a bit of current from the battery to the inverter { useally 10 to 1 ratio 12 amp @12 volts to 1 Amp @ 120 volts is typical but not always the case but close engough to figure it out quick }

As other poster mention the better choice for sump pump and fridge is use the generator they can handle the motour surge nice. { just watch the rating on the genrerators }

Merci,
Marc
