Cool new gadget receptacles?

Hi all:

I am getting ready to do the final install of the receptacles in my kitchen. I am adding a couple of the new USB receptacles.

Are there any other cool new "must have" receptacles beside the USB type that I should look into?

Thanks.

Many people have been pushing these. In fact I just installed 6 of em in a Dunkin Donuts, but I fail to see one advantage of them.

The USB is a really nice feature in my mind. With so many things requiring USB chargers, its a no brainer to install one in the kitchen where my phone will be charging most of the time.

What I am really wondering is if there are any other cool new gadget receptacles out there that I havent seen, that maybe some of you electricians have?

They're pretty low amperage, aren't they? Worthless for a tablet.

Probably depends on the brand... a few companies are making these now.

If that is the case, I can see these as being "cool".

Once they eliminate the cable to the device, then they will be 'cool'.

Are these receptacles UL approved? When I first heard of them, they weren't. If they still aren't how could you get away with installing them in a commercial building?

Yes, they are UL listed. Commercial, residential, or industrial...everything has to be listed.

Another cool receptacle is the GFI with the LED night light. The light is built in and they have photocell to turn them on when it's dark. You can find ones that have two outlets but some only have one.
I've installed a couple in bathrooms. They work great and throw off just the right amount of light for those late night trips to the bathroom.
