We're redoing our kitchen, and several months ago purchased some slick IKEA undercabinet halogen lights. Problem is, the lights are two prong plug-ins, and I've setup the kitchen / wiring to direct wire the undercabinet lights. For a variety of reasons, I don't want to simply put in outlets at this point.
So the question is - is simply cutting off the plugs & properly connecting the wires an acceptable practice (safe, etc.)? If so, where do I connect the ground-wire from the electrical wiring to?
Any help / guidance would be most appreciated. I can always take the lights back & simply buy direct-wire lights, but they are very slick & a great value and I'd like to use them if I can.
