I have 2 airbrush compressors. They are the same basic model. One is 120v and the other is 240v. I want to run the 240v one on 120v. Looking into this I decided to take apart the motor area to llok how it is wired and what is different. Well besides the color of the shielding on the wires and the european plug that is all I have seen that is different. The transformer inside on both is the same p/n, specs, and voltage ratings. Can I change out the plug to use on standard 120v ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Be very careful and you should not have taken anything apart. Looks like one is for European use and the other is for US use.
If there is no name plate or markings to tell you whats what, you must contact the manufacturer or take it to an electric motor shop. Most people that take things apart like you did never ever get them back together correctly.
If there are markings or a nameplate we may be able to help you? Where you see the voltage marked do you see any other markings?
