Converting a ceiling lamp holder to a grounded outlet
I've got a room full of ceramic lamp holders like these: http://bit.ly/8Pdc1K all wired to a switch.
I want more light than they provide so i've ordered a bunch of fluorescent tube lights that have a three prong plug. I'd like to convert all of these lamp holders to outlets.
My plan was to just remove the lamp holders and replace them with outlets. The problem I'm having is that I can't find an outlet cover for round ceiling boxes. Has anyone seen anything like that?
My alternative is to use something like this: http://bit.ly/5yqA3x I don't like this solution though because I won't need the lamp holder (and I can't find one that doesn't have the pull chain).
Any suggestions appreciated!
Here a idea but how big the junction box if you have either 3 or 3 1/2 inch box this idea will not work but full 4 inch junction box it will work so let me get a photo or link so here it is .,,
This is a link to the product I am talking about
Some big box store may have this otherwise electrical supply centre will stock this no question asked.
But ONE warning if too crowed or more than 4 conductors in there I really suggest that you get the extendison ring to bring it down little more so you have more room with it.
A full-fledged electrical supply store will have the plate with an outlet you need. I have used them in the past. By your description, I think what you have are "8B" boxes and are as common as sand.
