Default converting from 100amp to 200amp

hello everyone. i live in nj and am considering upgrading my homes electrical system. i am a novice and would not consider attempting a job like this. i was hoping some one could give me a rough idea on how much i would have to pay a licensed electrician for this job and what questions should i ask before hiring someone for this. thank you.
