Convert from outdoor recessed can to hanging pendant
I currently have a flood light in a recessed can for my ceiling light on my front porch. I want to convert this to a hanging pendant lamp. The pendant lamp would normally hang from a junction box. How can I convert the recessed can into a ceiling level junction box?
Once I figure that out, because the hole for the recessed can light is about 3 inches larger in diameter than the ceiling canopy on the hanging pendant, I plan to use a ceiling medallion to cover the gap.
Also, what is the recommendation as to how low the light should hang in relation to the front entry (a double door with an eyebrow window above it)?
Thank you for the info about finding the conversion kit at Home Depot. I just picked one up.
But your other response, "Center of the door" confuses me. I realize the light should line up with the center of the door, but my original question was, "what is the recommendation as to how low the light should hang in relation to the front entry". Should the bottom extend down to the top of the door opening? Should the body of the light be centered vertically on the eyebrow window? What is the usual configuration?
