convert NEMA L14-20 receptical to standard three prong 240 v plug

I have a generator with a 20 amp NEMA L14-20 receptical and need to plug in a 240 V engineering printer with a standard 3 prog plug. How do I make a converter?

#12/3 (blk wht green or similar) SO cord, L14-20 male cord cap, female cord cap to match the printer.

black and white as hots, green as ground.

What are you calling a standard 3-prong plug?
A typical household 3-prong plug is NOT 240v.
