convert illuminated switch to timer switch

Hi,
I tried to convert an illuminated switch to a timer switch. You can find the wiring diagram of the current illuminated switch here.

The timer switch that I purchased had a red, white, black, and green wire.

I wired white to white, black to hot black, green to gnd, and load to one and both of my load lines in the picture. The timer switch light lit up but the led read out did not work and it did not turn any lights on! I am really confused.

Do I need a new timer switch? Can I even use a timer switch in this config? I see that some leviton switches can have 2 travelers... can I wire my 2 loads to these ?

Thanks
J

OK,

So you've connected the black and white wires from the breaker to the black and white wires on the switch. You've connected the red wire on the switch to the black wire on your load. Is the white wire from the load connected to the neutral?

That's correct:

Black on the switch goes to the hot black wire from breaker
White on the switch goes to neutral in the box
Red on the switch goes to black load

I'm assuming that white from the load is tied up in the neutral from the box as there is a large wire nut with lots of white wires

Are you absolutely positive that the black wire you have feeding the switch, from the breaker, is correct? You didn't accidentally swap it with the black from the load side?

Do you have a meter?

I'm sure:
Here's what I did.

I ran the meter from my hot light bulb to the load black and it beeped.

I disconnected all the wires from the switch, turned the breaker on and tested the black hot and it read ~110 V. The other two blacks were dead.

Thanks

It might be a bad switch. It appears to be wired correctly and you do say the LED readout isn't working.
