I have 8 old 6" non IC cans i want to change out for 4" lv IC cans. My problem is how to best adapt the 6" hole to the new 4" can?
Worst case is I replace the section of drywall, joist to joist and cut a new 4" hole and hope i can match the ugly popcorn ceiling...but is there an easier way?
I was thinking about screwing a 1/4 sheet of plywood between joists as a backer and putting in a 1" ring of drywall to patch the hole...I think that would be easier and hide better, but will the new can sit too high of the finished ceiling?
Why not just use adapter rings and convert to LED lamps.
