Confession Time
I must confess my sins......
Yesterday I was working on the wireing on the side of the house.....all the stucco was pulled off and I was relocating the outside light over about a foot....while I was at it, I was extending the ckt over to the corner so I could install an outlet up high and in the corner to be used for a camera and for xmas lights. While chasing the wireing...I came across a line that was wire nutted and just shoved up into the rafters........ I did it....12 years ago when I was redoing the kitchen....(at least it was taped). The wire was too short to reach a new light so I took the shortcut. There...I confessed..... And I fixed it....since I had the side of the house open, I pulled it all out and ran a new line doing it right. I lucked out in being able to pull part of the new wire through a wall....the new romex is sligtly smaller than the old black tar covered stuff of 60 years ago....so once it pulled through the staple in the wall...it went pretty easy. Which means the new romex is stapled. On another positive note....I basically rewired everything on that side....the switch box now has a neutral in it... |
Well at least you confessed before the high holidays now you can be forgiven :-)

If you still have it open consider also running an ethernet cable to the location where you want the camera. Power Over Ethernet ip cameras are the way to go these days. You don't need no stinkin' power cable....

As soon as the construction is done....I'll be adding a couple of wired cameras in key spots. This paticular spot is more for watching the kids in front of the house.....so wireless is fine. |
