code for retrofit?

ok, this has been bothering me for a while. is there, or is there not, a special code section for retrofit work (in canada)?

for example, stapling electrical wire to studs.. during a retrofit, you may not have the walls open, so you can't really staple..

You must follow current codes for retrofit. You are not required to open walls to staple wires. They can be left floating inside the wall. Other codes like cable size, dedicated circuits, location and outlet count etc. must be followed.

code for retrofit?

ya, that's what i thought about the stapling. but i could never confirm that with actual code reference. seems its always about new installation.
